Community of Practice for School Managers
By Claire Nolan, School of Information and Communication Studies
The Community of Practice for School Managers commenced meeting during the 2018/19 Autumn semester. Initial meetings have covered both operational and strategic issues, and the group are now working towards several long term projects to develop resources and training. It is therefore creating for itself a forum of professional socialisation, as well as a strategic outlook as it goes forward.
It has also set up a workshop, with the support of HR, regarding Orientation for new administrative staff, and this will be explored further in the new year. Finally, the group will be inviting support units to visit them each meeting on the theme ‘What do you wish School Managers Know’, which continues to provide a lot of food for thought for all involved. We are very much indebted to the work of the Agile Unit, and Olga Murdoch in particular, for their assistance this semester.
