Project Managers Community of Practice Update
By Iseult Ó Síocháin, Senior Project Officer, UCD Registry
Like everything else these days, the Project Managers CoP moved online for its recent meet up in early June. The session was ably facilitated by Lisa Padden (Access & Lifelong Learning) and had two main contributors. Olga Murdoch (UCD Agile) spoke about training she recently undertook in the Agile PM methodology. This was a timely topic as this methodology is particularly suitable in uncertain environments or where it is important for a project to be able to rapidly respond to change. She also gave the group a whistlestop tour through the Agile manifesto and principles, and its different frameworks such as Scrum.
Second up was John Wyatt (School of Veterinary Medicine, UCD LEAP Project Manager), who presented a case study on a project he is managing around supporting student success. The LEAP project aims to create a student engagement model to enable timely and effective interventions by staff. John spoke about the project’s journey to date including how the team overcame certain challenges, useful tools they deployed and how they had to change tack to adapt to the current situation.
The PM CoP is an informal network to build and share knowledge, skills, and as always new members are welcome to join via our Google + Community
