Project Managers CoP launch

By Iseult Ó Síocháin, UCD Registry

Following the recent launch of the Community of Practice for Project Managers at the Work Smarter Together October event, a kick-off gathering of the group took place on November 11 in UCD Agile. The group currently has 30 members from right across the university including the College of Arts & Humanities, College of Science, College of Engineering & Architecture, HR, Research, Finance, Registry, University Secretariat, Estates and IT Services.

The format of the first session covered the use of a tech tool (Google + Community, ably explained by Emma Caron), a case study (the IT Services PMO, delivered by Frank Desmond), soft skills (a piece on running focus groups from Marian O’Connor) and training & development (a reflection on the MSc in Project Management by Elaine Cregg) and there was a very engaged question and answers after each slot. The group were encouraged to make requests and suggestions around topics, questions, speakers or case studies for upcoming sessions. The CoP aims to build and share knowledge, skills, and ways of working through an informal peer network of those managing projects across the university.  New members are welcome and anyone interested in joining can connect via our Google + Community, The next meeting will take place in January 2020.

    Dear all
I was wondering if I can join this CoP?
I work on Global engagement projects for VP O’Riordan’s strategy. One of the examples is Rowan (Global Partnership database with EAG) and I have 4 current projects running with 4 colleges named “College Partnership engagement plans” that aim to improve Global and College processes for the mobility of staff and students and identify opportunities for staff and students within the colleges .
    Look forward to hearing back.
