Welcome to the September 2023 WST Newsletter
Welcome to the September edition of the Work Smarter Together Newsletter – ‘the ecology of a project’. This newsletter aims to give you an insight into what it takes to get cross functional projects over the line. We have three stories from colleagues across the University that highlight how different parts of the University have come together to innovate and improve. Thank you to our colleagues from UCD Leap, ECups and Extenuating Circumstances projects for sharing their stories – and I hope you enjoy the insights they share with us as much as I have. We’ve also experimented with some new formats for these stories so be sure to let us know what you think.
We were delighted with the feedback on our last newsletter which featured ‘a day in the life’ of colleagues from diverse areas and with varied roles in the University. We heard from you that it was a great way to learn more about what is happening across campus, and to better appreciate what it is that other colleagues do. So, we have decided to make it a regular feature. In this edition, we are featuring Niall Dennehy – be sure to read his article to learn more about the day in the life of a Project Manager on an institutional project.
Keep an eye out for the option to book a spot at our next WST Event which is a roundtable on Disruptive Technology, specifically AI, (with ChatGPT being the shorthand to refer to this) and its use by professional staff in the day-to-day. The intent of the roundtable is to have an open discussion with members of staff from different areas of responsibility that are being impacted by the arrival of ChatGPT in our workplace. Make sure to read more in the article, book your place, and I look forward to seeing you there!
