Post-event wrap up
Thank you to our UCD colleagues who shared their time and experiences with us #UCDWST February 20 2020 event.
For those who didn’t get a chance to attend the event, here is a brief outline of what happened…
Prof. Mark Rogers opened the event and presented certificates and parchments to UCD’s 10 newest Green Belts.
Congratulations to: Emma Acton (Finance Office), Elaine Hickey (UCD Estates Services), Colm Walsh (UCD Global), Catherine Convery (UCD Global), Shelly Power (UCD Registry), Martin Hurley (UCD Registry), Kevin Lohan (UCD Registry), Ryan Teevan (UCD Registry), Vincenzo Di Grippo (UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science) and Aoife Walshe (Veterinary Hospital).
Two of our Green Belts Colm Walsh (UCD Global) and Elaine Hickey (UCD Estate Services) shared their project stories and explained how changing current approaches to processes made their work easier.
Olga Murdoch (UCD Agile) described the Student Experience Mapping Project, ‘Seeing through our students eyes’, which exposed how students feel about their experience in UCD.
Bernadeta Kieromin (UCD Agile) introduced Work Smarter Together brand new Smart Cards and showcased some very interesting Smart Card examples from across UCD. To see them go to Smart Cards Gallery.
Last but not least, Communities of Practice’s members – Fergus McAuliffe from UCD Public Engagement CoP, Jimmy Muldoon and Sabine Harrison from Chromatography&Mass Spectrometry CoPs and Bridin Walsh from Project Managers CoP told us how they developed each network and how you can join in!

Post-event survey
We have received great feedback from the post-event survey and we are very excited to share it with you. As always, your feedback will directly influence the next WST event. Thank you to those of you who took the time to complete the survey.
Some of the high points:
- ‘Public Engagement & Student Experience Mapping’
- ‘Green Belt presentations and learning about other CoP around the university. The SMART card initiative was very interesting, and it is good to see the uptake with that’
- ‘I found each one of the presentations useful and informative’
- ‘All of the speakers today were incredibly engaging and knowledgeable in their areas. Well done all everyone.’
Some of the low points:
- ‘I could only afford to stay for 45 mins’
- ‘Disappointing to see a reduction in attendees at this event compared to other WST events’
- ‘Email prior about questions on the day process would be have been welcomed, this was slower on the day’
- ‘Attendance should have been higher to see and hear the quality and diversity of work/projects’
We also asked what would you like to see at the future WST events and here is what you said…
- ‘More information about University wide initiatives e.g. Public Engagement’
- ‘Problem solving and solution examples of dealing with change’
- ‘More of the same, UCD based success and collaboration stories.’
- ‘The format worked well, and I would be happy to see a similar format continued’
- ‘Smart Cards showcases’
