One Thing to know about UCD Proposal Support Team in 2024
Who are you guys?
The Proposal Support Team provides Pre-Award research support to the UCD Research Community for national and international research funding applications. We liaise with research funding agencies in relation to both launched and planned funding calls, we manage UCDs resources for identifying funding opportunities through our funding calendar and the Research Professional database and disseminate funding opportunities via various resources including the fortnightly research bulletin. The Proposal Support Team designs the provision of supports to assist applicants with their submissions to national and international funding agencies which include specific call supports such as help-packs, toolkits and webinars, and also general call support resources to assist with developing applications which are available on the UCD Research Portal. The team provide proposal feedback for specific funding calls and compliance checks for submissions. We are the point of call to obtain official sign off for proposals including where forms are to be signed, institutional letters of support to be issued and/or on-line submission/endorsement to be carried out on behalf of the institution.
Where do you fit in in the broader UCD picture?
The Proposal Support Team are part of the wider Programmes Team which includes the EU Pre-Award Research Team, The ERC Team and the Pre-Award Accountant. The Programmes Team is situated in UCD Research and Innovation under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation & Impact.
What would you like to make your colleagues aware of coming into 2024?
Coming into 2024, we would like to make the UCD Research Community that there is a new system in place to request support for submission of a funding proposal from us. This Research Management System (RMS), accessible via UCD Connect, should be the first point of notification to the Proposal Support Team of the intention to apply to a specific funding call. Where an external applicant intends to apply for funding, the application should be entered by the relevant supervisor/mentor/Head of School, on behalf of the applicant. Access to all Proposal Support Team call support resources for funding calls will only be available via this system in 2024. The submission record created on RMS will be upgraded to a research account by the Grant Registration Team where an application has been successful. All existing and historical proposal and project data has been transferred to the new RMS and that along with ongoing records entered by Principal Investigators will form the research funding record of individual researchers.
