WST Summer School Update
By Michael Sinnott, Director of Agile.
The Agile Summer School ran on July 17, 18 and 19, bringing colleagues together for two ‘white belt’ Lean introductory sessions, a full day ‘yellow belt’ session, a lunch’n’learn and the first meeting of the Agile Community of Practice. We had 120 sign-ups, some folks attending more than one session. The timing of this year’s summer school was inspired by Registry’s
45 people took part in our standard ‘white’ (half day) and ‘yellow’ (full day) sessions, the first of which gives a broad introduction to the Lean process enhancement methodology, the second of which goes into this in more detail and is of most interest to those planning to get hands-on with some challenge or other they face.
The lunch’n’learn session mixes a free lunch with some Lean theory and the chance to ‘do’ Lean – in this case through a simulated emergency registration process. Mind you, this is ‘registration’ with a Toy Story flavour, carried out by what became increasingly competitive teams. You would need to have been there.
