WST21: Programme – Friday 12th March

Detailed Programme – Friday 12th March:

Description Presenters
10.00-11.00: Guest Speaker Session: How to Stay Creative, Positive, and Open whilst Locked Down. Ross Gaynor.

Ross learned early to be adaptable, developing innate creativity and positivity. His adaptability and creativity proved to be key to his success in 2020 as Ross and a colleague he had not (and still has not) yet met in person, looked for a new way to deliver the performing arts to the public – whilst not being able to bring people together in a traditional sense.

And so, The Lock Inn (thelockinn.io) was born.  A live, online, and interactive events venue – specialising in online theatre, and charity fundraisers.

Ross returns to UCD for WST21 to share his story with us, with an emphasis on the importance of creativity, positivity, and self-care during remote working (and lockdowns!) and some practical and creative examples of what self-care can look like – and how it can help you achieve fulfilment in your day and help you work smart while being apart.

Ross Gaynor is an actor, theatre-maker, and educator. He is also Artistic Director of The Lock Inn – a live, online, and interactive events venue. Ross was trained in The Lir, the National Academy of Dramatic Art. He is also a graduate of University College Dublin, where he received the Ad Astra Scholarship for Performance in 2012. As an actor, Ross has appeared in seminal Irish productions such as Normal People, and What Richard Did, among many others. He has performed with leading theatre companies across Ireland including the Abbey Theatre, Rough Magic, Irish National Opera, Project Arts Centre, CityTheatre Dublin and many more.  Ross is also one of the busiest voice-over artists in the country, voicing many famous brands.
